About this project
Action Nepal, in partnership with DCA Nepal is implementing Promoting DRR Initiatives project in Dhading District.
The project aims to strengthen the resilience of highly vulnerable communities by conducting community-based risk assessments to identify potential hazards, their frequency, and associated impacts. It also focuses on assessing community vulnerabilities and implementing appropriate disaster risk reduction and mitigation measures to enhance preparedness and resilience.
The overall goal is to reduce the impact of natural disasters on communities and contribute to sustainable development in the district by promoting safer and more resilient livelihoods.

Identify and support sustainable and nature-based solutions for disaster risk reduction.
Facilitate national and regional dialogue to strengthen collaboration and community of practice in disaster resilience.

Objectives
To promote a culture of preparedness and resilience in the communities.

Activities
• Total of 7 high risk assessment of vulnerabilities and hazards was conducted across the Benighat Rorang RM.
• 2 Nature based Solutions and 3 technical mitigations were implemented at marginalized Chepang communities at Salangghat and Laitak of Benighat Rorang RM which directly benefited 50 households and indirectly benefited 90 households of 5 different communities.
• The project provided essential search and rescue gear sets including Carabiner, tent, Tatpolin, throw bag rope, Pully, Fire Protect Jacket, helmet, Gloves, eye and other essential tools to ward 3 and ward 10 of Benighat Rorang RM preparing them to respond effectively to emergencies 43 Ward/Community Disaster Management Committee, ward officials, ward members, andcommunity representatives were trained on roles and responsibilities of C/WDMC that can help with planning and effective response during disaster.
• Trained 42 participants, including elected representatives, government officials, Local Disaster Management Committee (LDMC) members on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM).
• Monthly media dialogue on CCA and DRRM is being broadcasted through radio network monthly
