Project
Going Green Initiatives
Description
About this project
Going Green Initiative is a pilot project on Zero Waste Textile Solutions through Youth Creativity and Partnership, implemented by Action Nepal in collaboration with DCA Nepal. The initiative responds to the growing textile waste challenge in Kathmandu by promoting innovative zero-waste solutions through youth engagement, skills development, and international collaboration.
The project focuses on transforming fabric waste into high-quality, marketable products while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women from marginalized communities. By strengthening circular economy practices, it aims to reduce textile waste ending up in landfills and promote environmentally responsible production and consumption patterns.
The initiative integrates enterprise development, youth exchange, and community awareness to promote green entrepreneurship. Through a dedicated zero-waste production unit, advanced skills training, market development, and peer learning between Nepali and Danish youth, the project fosters innovation in sustainable textile products and strengthens both local and international market linkages. It also generates evidence and learning to support the scaling of circular economy practices in Nepal.
Objectives
